My name is Ami Zarug, and I am a dedicated artist passionate about delivering beauty and authenticity through my lifelike animal replicas. Specializing in handcrafted showpiece animal replicas, I create both life-size and realistic sculptures that are completely unique and meticulously made by hand.

Since 2005, I have been sculpting animals, with a special focus on endangered species. My fascination with the miracle of creation drives my artistic process, allowing each piece to develop its own distinct character. I begin by shaping the animal's head based on anatomical accuracy and then focus on the eyes, which inspire the overall direction of the sculpture. 

​

Importantly, I do not use any real animal components; all materials are synthetic. The process involves carefully matching synthetic fur to the animal's body and applying airbrush color layers based on meticulous observation of real animal fur. I have collected samples from naturally deceased animals to ensure the most realistic color levels. The final airbrush touches are critical, as they provide the lifelike appearance that I strive for, often taking days of refinement to achieve a satisfying result.

 

After years of perfecting my craft, I partnered with my colleague Chen Alfi to establish Animal Replicas. Our mission is to meet the growing demand for exhibiting rare animals without causing harm to the wildlife we cherish. Nature lovers can appreciate the magnificence of these creatures through our unique pieces, which serve as the next best thing to a real animal.
